Chitrangda Singh on why she didn’t prefer to act in her own production venture

Her debut production venture Soorma starring Diljit Dosanjh struck a chord with the audience. An actress herself, there was an opportunity where Chitrangda Singh could play the part of Harpreet Kaur essayed by Taapsee Pannu. The actress says that yes she would have liked to act in her own production venture, but there are certain conditions to it.

She shares, “A lot of people ask me why I didn’t act in Soorma. I would like to say that yes I would like to act in my production ventures, but only if I fit the part. In case of Soorma I feel I wasn’t right for the part. I believe that you have to be right for the part otherwise you are not doing justice to the story and the film. I feel Taapsee was absolutely bang on for someone playing hockey in a small town. And so we had her in the film.” She further adds, “This project would have given me a chance to learn to play hockey. There’s no doubt I would have trained for a skill to fit the part, but ultimately, sometimes inherently somebody is the best for the part and you cannot deny that. Yes, you can push yourself, but in the end if there is another person who’s naturally fitting in then that is a lot better. You can’t take that away. There is certain justice that they can do and hence the decision.”
