Aashiqui’ was one of the most iconic films of the 90s which continues to remain a classic even today, owing to its soulful album largely. ‘Aashiqui 2’ had also done extremely well at the box office with some great music. Little wonder then, that the makers have decided to revive the franchise as they announced ‘Aashiqui 3’ yesterday, starring Kartik Aaryan.

Film-maker Mahesh Bhatt is quite happy with the announcement as he said that he wants the team of ‘Aashiqui 3’ to soar high. He also got nostalgic and said that Bhushan Kumar’s father Gulshan Kumar had played a huge part in ‘Aashiqui’ so he is truly the son of a worthy father to take this legacy forward.
Meanwhile, the original ‘Aashiqui’ girl Anu Aggarwal has also reacted to this announcement. The actress said she is thrilled to be a part of an iconic title that is timeless and she feels grateful to have contributed to Bollywood with ‘Aashiqui’ in the little time that she was here. Aggarwal also added that any actor or actress will be able to do justice to a franchise like this as long as the role is really good.
While a lot of the songs and movies from the 90s are being remade, Aggarwal is not disappointed. In fact, she says that when something is remade, it only proves the film’s credibility so, it’s great actually. When asked if she would want to be a part of the franchise, she said, she wouldn’t mind acting if there’s a suitable role for her. ‘Aashiqui 3’ will star Kartik Aaryan while Bhushan Kumar and Mukesh Bhatt team up to produce it. Composer Pritam is set to helm the film’s music. Anurag Basu will be directing the project, meanwhile, fans of the franchise are eagerly waiting to find out who will be the female lead opposite Aaryan.
